A downloadable tavern

"The Questing Tick" once struck me as a great name for a pub—a pub that no one would ever want to visit. Unless of course you were a Beetle Knight...

Ticks are a transient lot by nature, but Dame Blodwen, tavern-keeper of The Questing Tick, is a notable exception. Blodwen's personal motto, and by extension that of her establishment, is one of steadfast hospitality and broad-mindedness: "with open arms."

In that same spirit, this work is published under a CC-BY-SA 4.0 license. Drop The Tick, or a version of it, into your own region of the bug world of Litterfall. Take the quest sparks and develop them into Beetle Knight adventures. Have at it!

Presently, this trifold pamphlet describes:

  • The Questing Tick Tavern and six of its regulars, from Ol' Palpy the vinegaroon buffoon to Secretia the leopard slug debutante.
  • A flavoursome list of food and drink options for the proboscis-forward or obligate carnivore crowd.
  • Eight quest sparks with scenarios, locations, and NPCs to run with.
  • Four fighting-bug retainers who could be convinced to quest with knights of sufficient presence.
  • Six groups of newcomers to enliven a quiet night sipping aphid mead.
  • Rules for Bucks/Skintlouse, a dice game based on Roman tali using bug-sized buckwheat seeds (d4s).

Love this, especially the regulars and the bit of art under food & drink. Campaigns can always use more points of interest!

I also wanted to shout out another Jam you might want to check out - https://itch.io/jam/swings-hard-with-flail-jam

Cheers, GH! Thanks for checking out The Questing Tick.

Flail sounds intriguing. Are you making something for that jam?

Thank you for making it!

I'm working on a little module about a void between worlds, sort of an alternative to something like Spelljammer or Planescape for inter-planar travel.
